JOB TITLE: Digitization Librarian, Grade 23
LOCATION: Headquarters Library

SALARY: $41,310 yearly (Includes generous benefits package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Monday - Friday 9:00am -6:00pm

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-Accredited library school with concentration in Archives or Digitization. Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform scanning of archival materials in various formats according to established archival protocols and file naming schema
Oversee scanning projects by coordinating staff and volunteer participation and performing quality control checks on scans and transcriptions

Create item level metadata according to South Carolina Digital Library standards and prepare files for uploading into digital content management system
Complete digitization requests for staff and patrons
Meet with potential donors and promote archival and digital collections through community outreach
Manage born digital archival collections
Perform related tasks as required

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-Accredited library school with concentration in Archives or Digitization
Experience using a wide variety of digitization equipment including flat-bed and overhead scanners and A/V conversion equipment
Knowledge of Photoshop preferred
Knowledge of archival description standards including DACS, EAD and RDA, controlled vocabularies including LOC subject headings and Getty vocabularies, and metadata standards
Excellent attention to detail, ability to communicate in writing and orally, and ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues
Must be in possession of valid driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle independently
