JOB TITLE: Courier, Grade 17
LOCATION: Headquarters Library
DATE AVAILABLE: April 1, 2025
SALARY: $2,305 per month. (Includes generous benefits package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week
Monday-Friday: 8am-5pm

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Must be able to lift 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Picking up, delivering and sorting books, supplies and materials;
  • Operates cargo van and/or box truck between libraries delivering and receiving books and other materials;
  • Handles books and materials to be transferred to ensure their safekeeping during transport;
  • Picks up and delivers newspapers for recycling;
  • Fuels vehicle and reports potential maintenance needs;
  • Ensures the safekeeping of cash during transport;
  • Performs occasional light maintenance, time permitting;
  • Remains aware of safety and security issues and takes appropriate action as needed;


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Some knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to operate automotive vehicle safely; ability to organize and plan delivery route to encompass 10 stops.
  • Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of South Carolina and 10-year good driving record.Due to the fact that Human Resources may periodically check driving record, such record has to continue to be in good standing.
