SALARY: $46,082 per year (Includes generous benefit package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Week A: Sun 12:15-5:15; Mon OFF; Tues 8:30-5:45; Wed 11:15-8:15; Thurs 8:30-5:45; Fri 9:15-6:15; Sat OFF

Week B&C: Sun OFF; Mon 8:30-5:30; Tues 8:30-5:30; Wed 11:15-8:15; Thurs 8:30-5:30;Fri 8:30-5:30Sat OFF

Week D: Sun OFF; Mon 8:30-5:45; Tues 8:30-5:30; Wed 11:15-8:15; Thurs 8:30-5:45;Fri OFF; Sat 9:15-5:15



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA library school with knowledge of Information Services in public libraries and one to two years of supervisory experience. Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversees daily functions of the Information Services Department including scheduling staff, coordinating programs, and planning for outreach and other special events.
  • Meets regularly with assistants working in the Information Services Department to coordinate their training, guide and supervise their work, and evaluate their performance.
  • Sets standards for the department to provide superior customer service when assisting patrons of all ages with information requests, reader’s advisory, computers, digital devices, and other equipment.
  • Assists the director with department meetings and planning processes and participates in relevant committees.
  • Serves as the Passport Program Lead, overseeingday-to-day operations of the passport acceptance program and assisting with passport appointments as needed.
  • Attends regular training related to information services and other library work.
  • Maintains department statistics and monthly reports.
  • May submit purchase order requests for department/programming needs.
  • Stays informed of the needs and interests of adults and collaborates with other adult services departments to ensure creative and innovative programs.
  • Maintains awareness of and completes ongoing training regarding safety and security and encourages a safe atmosphere for staff and patrons.
  • Serves as Librarian-in-Charge when assigned.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Master’s degree in library science from an accredited ALA library school with knowledge of Information Services in public libraries
  • Thorough knowledge of professional library principles, procedures, materials and practices with public library experience and one to two years of supervisory experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electronic and print information resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with technology
  • Ability to establish deadlines, monitor progress, and work well with a team
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive to other libraries or community outreach
