SALARY: $2,305 per month (Includes generous benefits package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

40 hours per week including one evening a week and one weekend per month.

Weeks 1 & 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:45-5:45; Friday: 12:15-9:15

Week 3: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 8:45-5:45; Thursday: OFF; Friday: 1:15-9:15; Saturday: 8:45-6:15

Week 4: Sunday: 12:55-6:15; Monday: OFF; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:45-5:45; Friday: 12:15-9:15



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with teens Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • The mission of Teen Services is to connect teens to people, opportunities, and resources that empower them. Staff work to accomplish this through outreach, programming,social media,and Teen Hub customer service interactions
  • Assists the public at the Teen Hub service desk while supervising and enforcing rules in a busy age-restricted space
  • Proactively seeks out teens to connect them to resources and opportunities that reflect their interests
  • Develops, promotes,presents,and evaluatesinnovativeprograms that meet the needs ofa diverseteenpopulation
  • Helps to create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and dynamic space in the Teen Hub
  • Actively participates in departmentandcommittee meetings andinonline discussions
  • Matches readers with books according to their interests and preferences
  • Composes and contributes relevant content for the SCPLteens social media presence
  • Attends regular training related tolibraries and Teen Services
  • Remains aware of safety and securityat all times


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experiencewith teens
  • Enthusiastic and team-orientated with a passion for working with and advocating for a diverse teen population
  • Knowledge and appreciation of teen collections
  • Comfortable and proficient with technology,familiar with online and video gaming, andknowledgeable about social media
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills that display a positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor with the ability to interface with people from all backgrounds and age groups
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and social media proficiency
  • Creative, flexible, and organized with a good work ethic, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction,work independently orona team, and complete assignments thoroughly and on time
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
  • Validdriver’s license with the ability to drive to other libraries or community outreach
