JOB TITLE: Media Specialist, Grade 20
LOCATION: Headquarters Library
DATE AVAILABLE: February 1, 2025
SALARY: $2,669 per month (Includes generous benefits package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Week A&B: Mon., Tues., Wed., & Fri.: 8:45am-5:45pm; Thurs.: 11:15am-8:15pm

Week C: Mon., Tues., & Wed.: 8:45am-6:15pm; Thurs.: 11:15am-8:15pm; Sat.: 9:45am-5:15pm

Week D: Sun.: 12:30pm-5:15pm; Tues. & Wed.: 8:45am-6:15pm; Thurs.: 11:15am-8:15pm; Fri.: 9:15am-6:15pm

(Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes, may be asked to work other times as needed).



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with media equipment. Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides superior customer service daily to patrons of all ages, fielding questions about library resources, materials, digital devices, and offering suggestions
  • Oversees requests, maintenance & setups of audio-visual equipment and provides in-depth troubleshooting for both patrons and staff at Headquarters and special AV setups at branches
  • Maintains the AV equipment manual, inventory, and budget to purchase AV equipment as necessary
  • Creates & maintains digital device guides for patron and staff use
  • Assists other departments in filming visual content for special projects
  • Plans, promotes and presents quality programs that meet the needs and interests of adults
  • Assists in maintaining an attractive Multimedia & Fiction space, including creating displays and signage
  • Aids implementation of departmental and systemwide projects
  • Participates in department meetings, Adult Services Committee meetings, and online discussions
  • Completes regular training related to adult services, AV equipment, as well as training regarding safety and security for both patrons & staff


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experiencewith media equipment
  • Excellent technology skills and ability to work with a variety of devices, software and audio-visual equipment
  • Ability to budget and handle funds responsibly
  • Broad knowledge of entertainment for adults, from books and manga to games and television, plus and ongoing interest in pop culture and technology
  • Working knowledge of video creation and sound editing software
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills that display a positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor, with the ability to interact with people from all backgrounds and age groups
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills with the ability to structure descriptions of events and materials
  • Creative, flexible and organized with good time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction and work independently or in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to take initiative
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive to other branch locations
