JOB TITLE: Retail Store Assistant, Grade 19
LOCATION: Pages on Pine, a branch of the Spartanburg County Public Libraries
DATE AVAILABLE: December 1, 2024
SALARY: $2,541 per month (Includes generous benefit package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Monday through Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm; Occasional weekend as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred. Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists Retail Store Manager and volunteers with daily opening or closing Pages on Pine.
Shelves books by learning the proper placement of materials in both stores.
Assists with patron book donations; assists customers as needed.
Runs cash register when needed and must be comfortable with financial transactions.
Organizes and maintains bookshelves; organizes donations before placement on shelves.
Keeps all areas of the stores neat and clean; keeps track of office inventory.
Assists with programming at the stores as needed; troubleshoots customer issues as they arise.
Fill in for absent volunteers.
Assists with recruiting volunteers for the stores and serves as staff liaison with Friends of the Spartanburg County Public Libraries.
Remains aware of safety and security issues and takes appropriate action as needed.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred. Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Ability to work independently and make decisions as directed by Retail Store Manager
Experience in retail a plus
Enjoy reading across genres and strong customer relations abilities
Driver’s license valid in the State of South Carolina with the ability to drive to other libraries
