JOB TITLE: Director of Information Services, Grade 30
LOCATION: Headquarters Library
DATE AVAILABLE: January 1, 2025
SALARY: $61,755 per year (Includes generous benefits package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

(Monday – Friday) 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. Must be flexible to fill in nights and weekends as needed to cover department schedule



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA library school with extensive knowledge of Information Services in public libraries Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develops objectives/key results and clearly communicates SCPL’s philosophy of Information Services and Civic Health (defined as the way communities are organized to define and address public problems).
  • Oversees the Information Services budget and prepares reports as needed to evaluate services.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates the Assistant Director of Information Services and the Community Connections Librarians.
  • Oversees department services such as computer labs, passport assistance, one-on-one computer help, tax preparation partnerships, and other initiatives.
  • Meets with staff around the system to provide guidance on Information Services and county-wide Civic Health.
  • Builds relationships within the community, attending meetings and connecting to local services to promote Civic Health in Spartanburg County.
  • Represents SCPL at conferences and events related to Information Services and Civic Health.
  • Stays informed of patron needs relating to Information Services and the Civic Health issues in Spartanburg County through library patron interactions and reading of current journals, websites and literature to ensure creative and innovative programs that meet the needs of adults.
