Spartanburg County Public Libraries

The Spartanburg County Public Libraries are seeking an Outreach Intern to assist in all areas of the Outreach department. Intern will:

Help prepare and deliver homebound materials.
Assist Bookmobile on community stops and the preparing for community stops.
Attend outreach events with bilingual Outreach staff.
Assists with programs supported by Outreach staff.

Intern should be able to work independently without close supervision. Exert 15-20 pounds, operate in outdoor environments, have a passion to help others, and work with persons from diverse backgrounds.

JOB TITLE: Outreach Intern
LOCATION: Headquarters Library
SALARY: $12 per hour

HOURS: 5 - 10 hours per week, not to exceed a total of 40 hours per month

5 -10 hours per week, not to exceed 40 hours per month. (September 1 – November 30).

Hours may vary.

DRESS CODE: Clothing must be clean and presentable. You must wear pants and a shirt with no graphics unless you wear a library t-shirt.

EDUCATION: Must have completed high school and enrolled in a semester of college.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Must have completed one year of college and currently enrolled in continued education.
Major or Minor in Non-profit Organizational studies, multi- cultural studies, Language, or related studies.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Experience working with people from all backgrounds and age groups.
Ability to coordinate schedule and manage time.
Ability to take direction in a team environment.
