families
APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Call for more information
Provides counseling and services to child victims of sexual or physical abuse in
a caring, safe environment. Works with law enforcement, Department of Social
Services, the courts and others to protect the abused child from further trauma,
to provide counseling for the child and family, and to protect society from the
offender. Conducts child interviews and provides on-site crisis counseling,
medical examinations, individual and group counseling. Also provides information
and support for parents of victims.

The National Domestic Violence
Hotline (NDVH) provides crisis intervention, information and referral to victims
of domestic violence, perpetrators, friends and families. Advocates have access
to information about thousands of shelters and domestic violence programs across
the United States, U.S. Territories and Canada. The Hotline is toll-free,
confidential and anonymous. NDVH operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in
more than 170 different languages through interpreter services, with a TTY line
available for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind and Hard of Hearing. Advocates who are Deaf

drinking. Provides literature to victims on grief and coping, financial burden,

preparation of a Victim Impact Statement, and accompanying victims to court to
offer support and inform them about legal procedures. Provides public service
programs/presentations to schools, colleges, businesses, civic groups, etc.

Founded 1987, 5 staff. 80 trained adult volunteers who protect the legal
rights of abused children in the Department of Social Services protective
services program. All volunteers undergo 30 hours of training before being
assigned to a case. Maintains Speakers Bureau. Affiliated with South Carolina
Guardian Ad Litem Program, and National Court Appointed Special Advocates
(CASA).
