A private nonprofit organization that is the designated arts agency for the city and county of Spartanburg. The Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg promotes the arts by providing financial support, facilities, programs, technical assistance, arts education, and informational services. Provides dance education in ballet, tap/jazz, hip hop, Irish Step, Lyrical and modern for children, teens, and adults.  A variety of adult classes including Ballroom, yoga, line dancing, Zumba® and Salsa.  Ballet Spartanburg provides an Outreach program that includes lecture/demonstrations for schools. Presentations of professional touring ballet companies, a three-event performance season including the Nutcracker. We also offer a free weekly dance class for Special Needs Children please call for information regarding the class. Free monthly classes are held for Parkinson's patients, through the joy of movement and a sense of community, just as in any dance class, participants experience a decrease in physical symptoms and improvement in psychological and emotional well being. MS and stroke patients are also welcome. A non-profit organization organized to promote dance appreciation in Spartanburg County and surrounding areas by providing quality dance presentation, education and outreach.

The Spartanburg Community Band is a concert band made up of mostly amateur musicians from Spartanburg, SC and surrounding areas. Established in 1996 to provide an outlet for community musicians and offer free concerts to the public, the Community Band and its affiliated jazz band, the Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble. Both play for public events-- Spring Fling and special events like the opening of the new Memorial Auditorium and the Pan American Games for the Blind. Our "Ice Cream Sundays" Summer Concert Series in the Rose Garden at USC-Upstate is especially popular. George Wenger directs the Concert band and Dale Burke is Jazz Ensemble Director.

Founded in 1944, the Lawson Academy of the Arts at Converse College offers quality instruction in music and dance with an excellent faculty, in a professional yet nurturing atmosphere.  We serve over 1,000 families each year and encourage students of all ages from preschoolers to adults to join us.  The Lawson Academy also functions as a "lab school," introducing Converse music and dance students to the experience of teaching.  This experience crosses over to the full arts spectrum during the summer when our college students staff our Fine Arts Day Camp.  They teach classes in visual arts, creative writing, music, dance and theatre.  In addition, our Lawson Band and smaller chamber ensembles provide wonderful collaborative opportunities for our students.  The Lawson Academy affords the opportunity for Converse and the Spartanburg community to share in a wonderful learning experience.  Join us!

The Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra performs diverse programs of classical, jazz, pop and traditional music featuring international guest artists. Tickets are by season subscription or by individual ticket. Season program are available by request or by going to our website.  Sarah Ioannides is the world renown conductor of this area's professional orchestra. The Music Foundation hosts free music with "Music Sandwiched In" in conjunction with Spartanburg County Public Libraries.

The Price House, slave cabin, and surrounding forest tell of the environment-altering work done by settlers and slaves to transform the Backcountry frontier into a fully-integrated part of the early United States.  Mr. Price ran a general store, post office, and “house of publick entertainment” (tavern or inn) that provided beds, food, and drink to stagecoach travelers.  Enslaved African Americans performed much of the work for these businesses and labored in the fields of Mr. Price's 2,000-acre farm.  These slaves lived in quarters not unlike the slave cabin located on the site today.  Visitors to Price House may tour the brick home, the slave cabin, and hike the site’s nature trail.

A performing organization of singers of opera, operetta, and musical theater.  The Company invites people from surrounding areas to participate with them.  Members encourage the educational value of music by being able to perform, direct, and present their talents to the schools.  The Company gives reduced rates to school groups who attend special performances.  The Company has season subscription prices for admittance to performances.

The Seay House sits on an acre of land, part of an original grant, at the crest of a hill on Darby Road. It is an example of a small rural farmstead and is believed to be the oldest home still standing in the city limits of Spartanburg. The original log portion of the home was built in the late 18th or early 19th century; other rooms were added later in the 19th century.

Walnut Grove Plantation tells the stories of the free and enslaved people who settled South Carolina and the rest of Britain’s American colonies, who fought for independence, and who, in the end, built a new nation.  Charles & Mary Moore established Walnut Grove on a 550-acre land grant about 1765.  The Scots-Irish immigrants raised ten children in the house they built and lived in for 40 years.  Mr. Moore relied on a dozen enslaved African Americans and his own large family to work his sizable farm.  During the American Revolution, the Moore family, including eldest daughter Kate Moore Barry, actively supported the Patriot cause and militia even mustered at Walnut Grove. Loyalist William "Bloody Bill" Cunningham killed 3 Patriot soldiers sheltered at the plantation in 1781.
Walnut Grove offers hourly guided tours of the site’s 250-year-old buildings. Regular programs examine Colonial & Revolutionary Era history and often feature reenactors portraying people of the time. Groups of 10 or more people from schools, churches, scout troops, senior citizen groups, and other community organizations can schedule special tours and activities in advance.
The Plantation is located near I-26 (Exit 28). Turn onto Stillhouse Road from Hwy. 221 and follow signs.

Located between Greenville and Spartanburg at Exit 60 on Interstate 85, The Zentrum is a 28,000 square foot museum for BMW's aero engine, motorcycle, and automobile manufacturing heritage. Take a virtual tour of the "Birth of a BMW" and visit the Euro-style cafe and gift shop. Tours of manufacturing plant are also available by reservation Monday-Friday during daytime production and they last about an hour.
